WHAT LEVEL PADDLER ARE YOU?

Identifying each individual's skill level allows us to provide the appropriate coaching and support your best learning.

Unique from other paddle schools, camps and coaching programs, we aren't just here to get you standing up on a paddle board.  At Stand and Paddle, we have identified many specific skills and skill sets that make up the sport of SUP and paddle surfing and we've broken those down to help paddlers of all levels learn, excel and master the sport.  It is more than just telling you what to do, hand holding, or rushing the process and skipping steps.  We want you to be able to learn and succeed whether we are on the water together, you're out paddling solo, or amongst a community.

Stand and Paddle's structured coaching system for both flatwater SUP and paddle surfing forms the foundation for our retreats, private coaching, video series, online programs, services, and long-term client progression. Here’s our 4-level framework, tailored for both SUP and paddle surf. 

Level 1: Foundation
Confidence & Fundamentals

New to SUP/paddle surf, little, no or limited paddling experience, less than a year of consistent paddling, occasional/sporadic, not familiar or confident in paddling terminology, no formal lesson

Level 2: Control
Skill Development, Wave Entry

Paddlers with basic comfort, understanding and awareness, able to demonstrate on flatwater or small clean surf

Level 3: Flow & Progression
Efficiency, Development

Intermediate paddlers seeking skill/stroke refinement and efficiency or paddle surf progression, strong foundation, want to take things to the next level

Level 4: Master
Performance

Advanced paddlers, athletes, training for performance or competition, strong understanding and ability to demonstrate levels 1-3 skills, confident in ability, high level of awareness, and trust in self
